Crafty Maven Online Crop – September 2015

On the 19th September 2015 we held our first online crop over at our Facebook group.

We hosted 12 fun challenges for our community to take part in and had a great response from the community and our group members, who created 221 layouts during the week the challenges were open. What an amazing response!

Jen's Lifted - Jen StokesJen Stokes (ScrapsbyJen) “Scraplift with Freedom” Challenge

Jen is challenged us to scraplift with freedom! Go ahead, lift it and don’t feel guilty about doing it. Many of us lift inspiration from other scrappers all the time, and as long as you give credit where it’s due it’s all good. Don’t feel like it’s a shameful secret, share your lifts proudly!

Tanyas Terror - Tanya HubbardTanya Hubbard’s “Tackle the Terror” Challenge

Tanya challenged everyone to try a technique, style or something else scrappy related that you’re too scared or intimidated to try. For example, Tanya’s fear was sewing on a layout.
Those who participated in this challenge were put into a random draw for a $25 gift card, which was won by Tiffani Nelson!

Rachel's PL - Rachel ReynoldsRachel Reynolds “{PL}ease Use Me” Challenge

This challenge was to use up Project Life or cut apart cards on a layout. Those who participated in this challenge were put into a random draw for a $20 gift card, which was won by Rebekah Alderson!

Marianne's Paint - Marianne Walsh BaroneMarianne Walsh Barone’s (M Barone) “Paint by Numbers” Challenge

This challenge was to create a layout or 2 cards that contain the following:
1 kind of paint (gesso, acrylic, watercolor, gelato, distress etc).
2  different colors of mist.
3  total combination of stamps and ink. So for example: One colour of ink and 2 different stamps or 2 different colors of ink and one stamp.
Those who participated in this challenge were put into a random draw for a $15 gift card, which was won by Melissa VanderHeiden!

Bonus Challange
Marianne also hosted a bonus challenge, where she asked you to share a photo of your scrappy space.
Those who participated in this challenge were put into a random draw for a small collection of Maggie Holmes Open Book goodies, which was won by Barbara Brown!

Jem's Recipe - Jenn KeatingJenn Keating’s (Scrappy Jem) “Let’s Start Here” Challenge

Jen’s challenge was to create a layout using the following “recipe”:
3 different pattern papers
1 card stock
The colors teal and gray
3 arrows
Some Chipboard
A travel themed embellishment (you layout does not need to be travel themed)
And finally something in your stash that is older than a year old

Lisa ThumbLisa DuBois Heroux’s (Nurse Lisa) Challenge

Lisa’s challenge wass to do a Project Life style layout or traditional layout using a greeting card. Maybe a card that’s special or one you just like.
Those who participated in this challenge were put into a random draw for a $25 Michaels gift card, which was won by  Karla Yungwirth!

Mari's Mixed Media - Mari ClarkeMari Clarke’s “Mixed Media/Cut File Fun” Challenge

Mari’s challenge was to use any kind of mixed media and a cut file on a layout.

Christy's Colour - Christy HarrimanChristy Harriman (Christy’s Beautiful Life) “Be Brave” Challenge

This challenge was about color, and making a layout with a color that intimidates you.

CaptureKelly Barron’s “Speed Scrap” Challenge

Kelly usually takes between 1-1.5 hours to complete a layout. Every now and then though she likes to challenge herself to get a layout done much quicker. So her challenge was to create a page from start to finish between 30-45 minutes. Gathering supplies, papers, and photos doesn’t count towards the time frame.

Katty’s challange was to use a sketch that she posted, or to follow the following recipe:
Use a stencil
Use wood veneer in at least two places
Use twine
Those who participated in this challenge were put into a random draw for a $25 gift card, which was won by Shari Klein Leonard!

Nicole Jones (NicoleJones911) “Stencils, Inks & Stamps” Challenge

Nicole challenged us to make our own backgrounds using stencils, inks and stamping.

Hannah’s challenge was to make a layout based on the moodboard she posted to the Crafty Maven Destination Facebook group. You recieved an extra entry to the draw if you also made your own kit based on it.
Those who participated in this challenge were put into a random draw for a $25 gift card, which was won by Dollie Boyd!

Rachel Reynolds Bonus Draw
Rachel offered a bonus draw of 10 sets of enamel dots to those who commented on the crop albums. There was a fantastic 660 comments left, and the winner picked at random was Adrienne Richardson.
