My name is Julia and I live in a small town called Bathurst in NSW which is 2.5hrs from Sydney (Australia). I have moved here back in 2000 from Europe (a small country called Estonia) and lived here ever since. (I love it here!)
I started scrapbooking 5 years ago when I came across some pretty papers at a local Spotlight store – I started researching what I could make with it, watching YouTube videos, reading magazines and looking around me for inspiration.
My hobby has grown from just making a few basic pages to (MANY 12×12 albums), Project Life, card making, off the page and canvas projects and home decor. I love traditional 12×12 scrapbooking, Project Life as well as mixed media and often mix them all together in one way or another.
I love working with colour, if the papers I create with are too neutral for my taste, I overcome that by adding some mixed media or some bright embellishments in accent colours to add that little something-something. It is also fun to add various textures to the projects – doilies, netting, ribbon, washi tape.
I never took a lot of photos until I started scrapbooking – then I realised I need something to scrap so I started taking snaps of my life and things around me and it is amazing to look back through the albums and see all those memories preserved for yourself and others that will look through them in years to come!
I work in an IT/ Telecommunications industry and my job is quite technical (I’m a technical engineer), so there is nothing better to come home after a busy day and relax with some pretty papers and embellishments and create – I find it very calming!
